The Higher Learning Commission has policies governing the kind of institutional changes that require colleges and universities to seek prior approval -- formal Commission approval before the change is implemented or advertised. These policies are attached to this post, and can be uploaded and read or printed -- see "Commission change Policies.pdf" in the "attachment" box.

Currently, AQIP has piloted an alternative approach to the submission and review of changes involving distance education. We have created a set of questions for distance education change requests, and expedite review through use of a regular panel of experts who review all distance education requests that we receive. We hope that this approach will improve the speed, quality, and consistency of our review of these proposals. Our questions for proposals are attached to this post, and can be uploaded and read or printed -- see "DistanceEdChange.pdf" in the "attachement" box. These questions are based on the Commission's statement of good practice in distance education (see the attachment "Best Pract DEd.pdf" in the "attachments" box.
