Commission Statement on the Release of the Final OIG Report

May 25, 2010

We have received a copy of the Department of Education Office of the Inspector General’s (OIG) final report on the Higher Learning Commission’s (HLC) handling of credits and program length. The report essentially repeats the assertions made in their December 2009 Alert Memorandum, which focused on a single action taken with regard to one accreditation decision by the Commission. We objected strenuously to the conclusions in the December report and we continue to disagree with the OIG’s conclusions.

Here is the official Commission Statement.

December 17, 2009

The Department of Education Office of the Inspector General (OIG) issued an Alert Memo in December 2009 regarding one of the Commission’s accrediting decisions. The Commission has issued a letter in response.
